The Fusion and Industry Team

The CCFE Fusion and Industry team is led by Dan Mistry. As the Fusion and Industry manager, Dan is responsible for the strategic direction for the CCFE Culham Division’s Fusion and Industry programme. He is also responsible for managing relationships with fusion and industry managers at fusion laboratories across Europe and the ITER team and he represents CCFE at various professional and Industry trade associations. With the International Tokamak Experimental Reactor (ITER) being built, Dan is focusing his effort on ensuring key industry sectors are aware of the technical / management opportunities that are available to UK industry from the fusion/ITER programme. He is working on this with key stakeholders including Government, the Sensors and Instrumentation KTN, Regional Development Agencies and Devolved Assemblies, and other organisations that help industry like MAS (Manufacturing Advisory Service), CBI and the East of England Energy Group.

Dan is supported by a team which performs the following roles:

  • Organising exhibitions at Culham Science Centre for suppliers to demonstrate their products to the scientists and engineers employed at the Centre in fusion and other technologies. The team organises supplier table-top exhibitions through to the annual Technology and Innovation Exhibition.

  • Producing the ‘Fusion Business’ E-zine newsletter, and maintaining the Fusion and Industry website and database.

  • Encouraging technology transfer from fusion research to industry. This involves working with fusion scientists and industry to identify and facilitate technology transfer opportunities, and management of the CCFE Technical Support Package contract which is available to suitably qualified companies in the Culham Innovation Centre.
