FSC Global supplies specialist cables to IPR in India
The power of the Internet was demonstrated recently when specialist cable supplier Flexible and Specialist Cables (FSC) won an order to supply high specification cable to the Institute for Plasma Research (IPR) in Gandhinagar, India.
Oerlikon Leybold vacuum pumps for JET Pellet Injector
Pump manufacturer Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum has supplied and installed under an EU Public Procurement Contract a number of large vacuum pumps for a new High Frequency Pellet Injector, a key component of the JET enhancements in support of ITER.
The ITER Council – the project’s governing body – held its latest meeting on 17-18 June 2008 in Japan. The Council approved the extensive design review undertaken by the ITER team, formalising the start date of operations at 2018, whilst recognising the significant progress that has been made in site preparation and building the project team.
UKAEA is playing a key role in a pan-European team developing elements of the ITER Neutral Beam Injection System. 18 months into the project, the team is approaching conclusion of the concept design phase in preparation for beginning work on development of the neutral beam components.
Earlier this month Fusion and Industry held a briefing for companies possibly interested in the manufacture, testing and delivery of some components of the ITER magnet system. The half day briefing brought together F4E's leading expert on magnets and engineers from 10 UK companies.
