The relaxed, informal setting of Culham Science Centre’s foyer was the ideal place for scientists to see and discuss Hamamatsu Photonics latest products. Hamamatsu has a range of optoelectronic devices including photomultiplier tubes, image intensifiers, photodiodes, silicon detectors, CCDs and CCD cameras. They have a long history supplying products for high-energy physics and nuclear physics applications. Sales Engineer Richard Biggs commented: ”It was good to discuss the diagnostics requirements. Our latest technology such as the Multi-Pixel Photon-Counting device (MPPC), which features Geiger-mode avalanche photodiode structure for ultra-low-level light detection, was of great interest, especially in multi-channel arrays.” For more information please visit Hamamatsu’s website www.hamamatsu.co.uk, you can speak to a sales engineer direct on 01707 294888 or email info@hamamatsu.co.uk.

Schroff leading manufacturers of electronic packaging systems exhibited at Culham for the fifth year. “We place great importance in meeting customers to inform them about the extensive product range and more importantly updating people with the latest new developments”, said Denis Brown, Regional Sales Manager. Based on globally standardised subracks, cases and cabinet systems, Schroff design and build complete packaging solutions. Schroff welcomed the opportunity to display a detailed selection of their product range to Culham staff. Its ATCA range including the MicroTCA product was of special interest this year. The ATCA & MicroTCA development chassis was featured along with the range of backplanes, power supplies, cooling units and shelf managers. Denis Brown: “The exhibition was the ideal opportunity to meet new and existing customers and to illustrate the breadth of our products and services. Our Embedded systems are not an easy product to demonstrate through catalogues and websites alone and the chance to demonstrate on a face to face basis the specific product features is more than welcome.
We wish to thank all visitors and look forward to returning in 2010." For further information contact Denis on 07850 911573, denis_brown@schroff.co.uk & visit http://www.schroff.co.uk

PPM once again took advantage of presenting its products at what for them is an annual event in the foyer at Culham. Sales Manager Dave Willford said “new for us this year were our DAU thermal management products: liquid cooling, air cooling and specialist heat pipes: This attracted the expected interest and came as a complement to our standard line of Power Electronics components and design software. Of equal interest to the Power Supplies group looking at issues on MAST was a recently introduced modular power supply system from TDK Lambda. This uses standard 50kW DC power modules, which can be configured up to 300kW at 40kV”. Dave went on to say that “most encouraging of all was the varied interest shown in our full range of pulsed power, power electronics, high voltage and test and instrumentation range for a variety of fusion applications”.
