Company Exhibitions at UKAEA-Culham
 
Regular one day exhibitions by engineering and other technical companies and organisations are held at UKAEA Culham throughout the year to enable staff and tenants to familiarise themselves with new products and new companies and network with current suppliers and contractors. These ‘foyer exhibitions’ are organised by Deniese Willis, Industry Events Manager of the Fusion and Industry team. Craftec Exhibition
Craftec, one of Europe's premier sources for power conversion technology, recently exhibited for the second time at Culham. Craftec displayed a wide variety of power supply solutions including High Voltage modules from EMCO, and standard and custom AC-DC converters and demonstrated programmable DC supplies from Elgar. Alistair Jeffcoat, Senior Sales Engineer said "This was another successful day, with a lot of interest generated in the High Voltage modules and Eurostyle power cassettes, we look forward to exhibiting again next year." Schroff UK, manufacturers of electronic packaging systems, displayed their ATCA & MicroTCA development chassis along with backplanes, power supplies, cooling units and shelf managers. Alan Barnes said, “This was the ideal opportunity to meet new and existing customers and to illustrate the breadth of our products and services. The ATCA system is not an easy product to demonstrate through catalogues and websites alone and the chance to demonstrate on a face to face basis is very welcome. Fluid Controls Exhibition
Fluid Controls returned to Culham with the Parker Hannifin Instrument roadshow, a mobile unit which exhibits Parker’s range of instrumentation fittings, valves, PFA/PTFE products, pressure regulators and gauges, solenoid valves and filtration products. Parker also showcased their new innovation "Phastite" a breakthrough in tube connection systems. Engineer Craig Banyard said, "We had a great turn-out on the day making new contacts and catching up with existing customers." Sterling FS demonstrated their award winning SIHIdry vacuum pump along with their liquid ring technology and other liquid pumps. Their service manager was on hand to explain various pump issues such as cavitation, laser alignment etc. Gary Leatherbarrow said, “We already have our technology installed on-site and hope this exhibition will encourage further use of Sterling equipment and services. Culham Innovation Centre Exhibition
Culham Innovation Centre (CIC) run by Oxford Innovation exhibited for the first time. CIC provides serviced office and workshop space with flexible terms for innovative, early stage and high-growth companies. Peco Cryogenic’s first exhibition at Culham was well received with a good degree of interest shown in their range of vacuum insulated (SIVL) lines, hoses, valves and accessories. Glen Oxborough of Peco Cryogenics said, “We had a really good day and met many people who have both current and future applications for our product range. Data Translation Exhibition
Data Translation exhibited their wide range of USB and PCI data acquisition products and introduced TEMPpoint, a 48-channel module that can be used with thermocouples, RTD’s and voltage inputs at Culham. PI-KEM's first exhibition at Culham provided the opportunity to present a wide range of advanced materials and laboratory equipment which they offer on behalf of several USA and European speciality producers. Astech Projects Exhibition
Astech Projects used their first exhibition at Culham to showcase their specialist knowledge in designing, building and commissioning bespoke automated systems and to demonstrate their highly innovative engineering capabilities. A number of visitors to the stand were particularly interested in one of their specialist areas, remote handling using bespoke robotics. Alcatel Vacuum Exhibition
“This year we demonstrated our H2000 leak detector which is a great addition to our range of leak detectors and vacuum pumps and uses a very low concentration of Hydrogen as the trace gas, less than 5.7% which means that the gas is non flammable,” said Richard Frost, Alcatel Vacuum’s Senior Sales Engineer “This offers a very low cost test as the trace gas is much cheaper than Helium. The H2000 is also very compact and you get the same performance as a Helium “sniffer” test.
