Castings company wins a €2.5m ITER-like wall contract
 
Sheffield-based, Castings Technology International (Cti) is supplying 1,800 superalloy castings for the ITER-like wall (ILW) project being undertaken at EFDA JET, in an EU public procurement contract worth about a €2.5m under the European Fusion Development Agreement (EFDA). The ILW will be used to evaluate different torus configurations and operational scenarios for the ITER first wall.

Inside the JET Torus
In 2008 a number of UK companies completed EU public procurement contracts tendered under the European Fusion Development Agreement (EFDA) related to the ITER-like wall (ILW) project being undertaken at EFDA JET in 2010. This article gives an overview of the ILW project, its current status, and its importance in the development of ITER.

ITER vacuum vessel consortium visits F4E
 
UK companies have formed a consortium to bid for construction of the ITER vacuum vessel, the central part of the ITER machine. The consortium, led by Davy Markham, a specialist in fabrication & machining of large structures, and precision fabrication specialist Metalcraft, with support from AMEC and The Welding Institute, recently attended the ‘Technical Information Meeting for Qualified Companies’ at the Fusion for Energy (F4E) office in Barcelona.
